Melissa McCarthy shows off her impressive 75lb weight loss in her new movie Life of the Party. The comedian plays mom Deanna who has a glamorous makeover to return to college alongside her teen daughter after the breakdown of her marriage.Melissa, 47, reportedly went on a ketogenic diet ahead of the movie to help her shift some pounds. The keto diet - the name derived from the metabolic state of ketosis - involves eating more healthy fats and avoiding carbohydrates. To achieve ketosis, dieters cut their carbohydrates to as few as five to 10 percent of daily calorie intake. They then boost fat intake and keep protein levels moderate.Melissa waited until she had shed the first 50 pounds in 2015 to discuss her weight loss. That year she opened up about how good it felt to lose weight, telling CBS This Morning: 'It may be the best thing I've ever done.I feel amazing.' In the fun-filled trailer for the movie, released in theaters May 11 - the slimmed down star makes out with a hunky college student, played by 22-year-old Luke Benward. When asked what it was like kissing Luke in the film as her husband Ben Falcone was behind the camera, she told Ellen DeGeneneres: 'Professionally speaking, it was amazing. We meet and kind of hit it off.We are in a relationship, there is some making out in a library.' And to make it even more awkward, it was shot on the day of her 11th wedding anniversary with Ben.'He's weirdly yelling out things like, "Can you grab his butt in the next take."And we kept going Happy Anniversary?' The official synopsis for the flick reads: 'When her husband suddenly dumps her, longtime dedicated housewife Deanna turns regret into re-set by going back to college - landing in the same class and school as her daughter, who's not entirely sold on the idea.'Plunging headlong into the campus experience, the increasingly outspoken Deanna - now Dee Rock - embraces freedom, fun, and frat boys on her own terms, finding her true self in a senior year no one ever expected.
