President Sirleaf Holds Talks with Nigerian Counterpart – Muhammadu Buhari

Abuja, Nigeria – Monday, December 5, 2016: President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has held talks with her Nigerian counterpart, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari at Aso Rock, Abuja, Nigeria and praised his continued role in the sub-region aimed at finding peace to challenges occasioning the Community.

According to a dispatch from Abuja, the Liberian leader was speaking during a press stakeout at the Presidential Palace in Abuja where she had gone to seek the console of her Nigerian counterpart, President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Sirleaf termed the Nigerian leader as a man of great honor and statesmanship who she can always count on for pieces of advice. She said his advisory will continue to be cardinal to the sustenance of peace and stability in the sub-region. She commended President Buhari for his unrelenting support to ECOWAS in furtherance of its goals and aspirations in the interest of the people of the sub-region.

Also speaking, President Buhari said Nigeria is fully committed to enhancing the overall fundamental principles of ECOWAS in transforming it from ECOWAS of States to one of people. He thanked President Sirleaf for her visit and assured her of his unflinching commitment to the collective determination of the Commission.

President Sirleaf was accompanied to Aso Rock by ECOWAS Commission President, Marcel Alan de Souza, Vice President Singhatey, Foreign Minister, Marjon Kamara, Liberia’s Ambassador to Nigeria – Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh, Commissioners of ECOWAS Commission, among others.
