Mr. Sediko Douka, ECOWAS Commissioner in charge of Energy Visits ECREEE

April 2nd, 2025, Praia, Cabo Verde – The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) had the honor of welcoming the ECOWAS Commissioner for Infrastructure, Energy, and Digitalization to its headquarters in Praia. This high-level visit underscores ECOWAS’ commitment to advancing regional energy sustainability and infrastructure development.

 

During the visit, ECREEE presented key ongoing and completed projects that are driving the energy transition in West Africa. The presentations covered flagship initiatives in renewable energy deployment, energy efficiency, desert-to-power, e-mobility, circular economy and nexus energy water food. The discussions also highlighted ECREEE’s pivotal role in supporting ECOWAS Member States in achieving the region’s energy and climate objectives.

 

The Commissioner, Mr. Sediko Douka, commended the Centre’s efforts in fostering sustainable energy solutions and reiterated ECOWAS’ continued support for strengthening regional cooperation in the energy sector. Mr. Francis Sempore, Executive Director of ECREEE, reaffirmed the Centre’s role as a driving force for innovation and collaboration in the West African energy landscape, while promoting sustainable energy in alignment with the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Policies and global climate goals.
