ROLE OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of the Head of Administration and Finance, the reviewer carries out the highest quality review of documents in two of the three languages French, English and Portuguese and supervises the facilitation of communication from one language to the other.
ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES · Schedule translation/interpretation work and preparation of instructions. · Review translations covering a wide range of issues addressed by ECOWAS. · Conduct linguistic research and develops terminology tools and related reference tools. · Advise and assists translators and informs them of ECOWAS procedures and practices, terminology used and a range of issues, as required. · Revise the verbatim minutes and final communiqués of sessions dealing with subjects of a particularly delicate, complex or technical nature. · Verify compliance of revised final minutes and communiqués with the original or other versions and with established ECOWAS practice. · Review the final version of the compiled final revised minutes and communiqués for quality control. · Help review the transcribed and edited text based on interpretation by comparing it to the text in the original language, as needed. · Report to the hierarchy on the quality of the work of translators and interpreters. · Ensure monitoring of the quality of internal and contractual translations.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPÉRIENCES ET COMPÉTENCES REQUISES · Hold a master’s degree in Translation or in the field of Revision, or in a similar field obtained from a university or a recognized training institution. · Have at least ten (10) years of professional experience in translation, including four (04) years as a revisor. · Have proven experience in the use of relevant computer-assisted translation software and tools. · Have proven professional skills and good mastery in their field. · Be able to find appropriate cultural equivalences and be able to consider the cultural context through knowledge of both language and culture. · Be able to demonstrate adherence to the highest standards of accuracy and precision, consistency and fidelity to the style and nuances of the source or source text. · Be able to demonstrate the highest level of confidentiality. · Have a good knowledge of terminology research and reference documentation research techniques, as well as the ability to exploit a wide variety of information and reference sources.
