ROLE OVERVIEW

Under the Supervision of the PPO Water Supply and Sanitation, the incumbent is responsible for Water Supply

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Support the development and implementation of water supply policies and strategies.

·       Ensure monitoring of water mobilization for all uses (agriculture, livestock, water supply, electricity, fishing, river transport, etc.;)

·       Contribute to the development and implementation of a regional support program for water supply/village hydraulics in the member states.

·       Design and implement a water mobilization database.

·       Ensure the participation of member states in achieving the objectives of the commission by monitoring the adoption and implementation of common policies by the member states.

·       Contribute to the design and implementation of integrating and structuring projects for the benefit of the local Communities and authorities.

·       Mobilization of Technical and Financial Partners for the implementation of initiatives, programs and projects relating to drinking water.

·       Contribute to ensuring the viability of drinking water development and distribution utilities through the strengthening of regional and national frameworks.

·       Contribute to ensuring the establishment of regional umbrellas for drinking water development and distribution utilities.

·       Any other duties assigned from time to time by the PPO Water Supply and Sanitation

 

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

·       Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Hydraulic, Water Management, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Regional Planning and Development, Rural Development, Environment Science, Forestry, or a related field from a recognized University.

·       5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in water-related fields and implementation of biodiversity and water-related projects.

·       solid understanding of water resources, management and use and ability to keep abreast of developments in the field.

·       excellent knowledge of water sector policies and projects, intra-regional and regional cooperation activities in the water sector, and the role of water resources in developing rural economies and reducing poverty.

·       Demonstrated professional skills and abilities related to best practices in programme and project management associated with water management.

Be below 50 years old. This provision does not apply to internal candidates.

·       Proficiency in information communication technologies (ICT).

·       Fluency in oral and written expressions in one of the ECOWAS official languages of the Community (English, French & Portuguese). Knowledge of an additional one will be an added advantage.

·       Ability to develop, implement an individual action plan for achieving specific work goals.

·       Identify, organize, and monitor tasks throughout to facilitate execution.

·       Ability to contribute and/or lead on projects as per accepted project management standards and techniques, to co-ordinate contributions by others to set and meet deadlines.

·       Ability to organize work, set priorities, and work within timelines, giving attention to details, stakeholders, indicators, and risks.

·       Ability to identify, collect and assess indicators to monitor performance and to take proactive remedial action as required.
