Role Overview

Under the Supervision of the Director, External Relations, the incumbent shall support the Directorate in coordinating the ECOWAS cooperation with the Region’s Intergovernmental Organizations and ECOWAS National Offices.

 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Focal Point for relations with West Africa Intergovernmental Organizations.
  • Develop tools to ensure coordination and monitoring of cooperation with West Africa Intergovernmental Organizations.
  • Ensure and promote effective communication between the Commission and these Bodies working in close collaboration with relevant Technical Directorates.
  • Support in exploring and expanding innovative relationships and networks between ECOWAS and West Africa Intergovernmental Organizations.
  • Support in facilitating and monitoring the process of elaboration and implementation of agreements between ECOWAS and West Africa Intergovernmental Organizations.
  • Support in coordination and promotion of effective communication with ECOWAS National Offices.
  • Work in ensuring the effective implementation of the Operational Manual of ECOWAS National Offices (ENO) as well as ECOWAS Technical Departments and Specialized Agencies.
  • Constantly update the database of ECOWAS National Offices (ENO), Ministries, and Permanent Representatives.
  • Support in elaborating the Directorate’s annual budget, work programs and their execution while ensuring that deadlines are met and that outputs meet the highest technical standard.
  • Participate in relevant conferences, seminars, and working groups to enhance your organization’s visibility and network with stakeholders in the field of regional intergovernmental organizations.
  • Maintain records of interactions, partnerships, and collaborative activities between ECOWAS and West Africa Intergovernmental Organizations and prepare reports, briefing notes, and other relevant documents to inform senior management about progress, outcomes, and challenges related to regional partnerships.
  • Perform any other task assigned by the supervisor.

 

 

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in International Relations, Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, Law, International Development, Political Science or any Social Science from a recognized University.

·       5 years of relevant experience in the implementation of strategic plans, resources mobilization, partnership building, management.

·       demonstrated knowledge of planning, monitoring & evaluation with and Result Based Management approach.

·       Proven ability to effectively support in conducting complex negotiations with public and Intergovernmental Organizations.

·       Demonstrated experience in developing productive relationships with resource providers and implementing partners (Intergovernmental Organizations, Foundations, Private Sector entities etc;

·       Ability to actively build and contribute to internal and external networks.

·       Experience working with National and Regional Bodies will be an advantage.

·       Knowledge of rules, policies and guidelines of partners and members states.

·       Proven experience in planning, monitoring & evaluation of programs and projects.

  • Proficiency in information communication technologies (ICT).

·       Fluency in oral and written expressions in one of the ECOWAS official languages of the Community (English, French & Portuguese). Knowledge of an additional one will be an added advantage.
