ROLE OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of the Head of the ECOWAS Regional Radio, the incumbent will present News and Programs in a manner that most effectively communicates the message of ECOWAS.

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Perform daily news production and presentation by liaising with Public Relations Officer at assigned beats around Liberia and ECOWAS Region.

·       Collaborate with fellow colleagues in the production of News Bulletins (Produce news script and edit to ensure news stories are balance and accurate, audition news bytes to ensure they are relevant and of good sound quality.

·       Coordinate with duty technician to ensure presentation of news is timely and schedule for broadcast accordingly.

·       Liaise with technicians to make sure news bulletins are recorded, labelled, and filed for repeat broadcast and archived for future reference.

·       Coordinate with duty technicians to ensure programs are aired at appropriate time.

·       Schedule programs that will suit target audience.

·       Use relevant jingles to help transmit message.

·       Make suggestions to improve other programs and to organize guests as well to be featured in live programs.

·       Produce ECOWAS Radio French Programs.

·       To transcribe ECOWAS Radio news bulletins into French

·       Serve as local interpreter/translator for ECOWAS Radio and localized ECOWAS Meetings.

·       Contribute ideas and support with the aim of improving the overall output of ECOWAS Radio.

·       To serve as continuity announcer if need be.

·       Perform editorial roles and responsibilities.

·       Perform other tasks/assignments as required by your supervisor.

 

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

·       Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communication, or related field from a recognized University.

·       Five (5) years’ experiences in journalism, developing Radio programs, communications, and public relations.

·        Knowledge in developing communication strategies and plans, internal and external communications.

·        Ability to coordinate and manage complex communication campaigns and events.

·       Ability to conceptualize and contribute to design of communication campaigns that target larger audiences.

·       Proven knowledge of communication and the ability to diplomatically handle sensitive situations with target audiences and cultivate productive relationships.

  • Proficiency in information communication technologies (ICT).

·       Fluency in oral and written expressions in one of the ECOWAS official languages of the Community (English, French & Portuguese). Knowledge of an additional one will be an added advantage.

·       Ability to develop, implement an individual action plan for achieving specific work goals.

·        Identify, organize, and monitor tasks throughout to facilitate execution.

·       Ability to contribute and/or lead on projects as per accepted project management standards and techniques, to co-ordinate contributions by others to set and meet deadlines.
