ROLE OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of the Production and Programme Officer, the incumbent shall create films for working creatively to produce original and aesthetically pleasing designs and solutions while liaising and working effectively with other design and production staff.

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborating with the client and production team members to understand needs, review scripts and design storyboards and create and edit animations.
  • Using software and other techniques to produce animations.
  • Listening to feedback and altering animations to better suit client needs.
  • Ensuring that the final product aligns with the needs of the client and is delivered on time without exceeding the budget.
  • Presenting the final animated piece to the supervisor for review.
  • Research industry trends and developments and earning new applications.
  • Receive and examine design requirements for each project.
  • Research various design techniques to provide accurate designs for requested animations.
  • Create multiple design drafts and collaborate with the supervisor for final direction.
  • Use requested design tools, including physical and digital tools, to create initial designs.
  • Create and elaborate on storyboards for requested projects.
  • Use existing tools to draw final frames to be animated.
  • Utilize industry animation tools or methods to finalize animation projects.
  • Work collaboratively with other animators to ensure consistency and accuracy of animated designs.
  • Create expressive character animation portraying a wide range of emotions
  • Recommend the best approaches to integrate 3-D components into final commercial quality products.
  • Create high-quality animations by utilizing both hand key animation and motion capture data.
  • Give and receive constructive, creative feedback across teams.
  • Collaborate with other animators, clients, and producers.
  • Create prototypes and mock-ups of new types of products.
  • Brainstorm and conceptualize ideas, with the ability to produce concept sketches and quick concept edits.
  • Comprehend and execute direction from the animation supervisor.
  • Perform any other duty assigned by the supervisor.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

·        Brevet deTechnicien Superieur (BTS)/ Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or equivalent in Art, Animation or any relevant technical specialty from a recognized University.

  • Six (6) years of progressive experience in desktop publishing, including typography and layout, or related topic such as using computers with advanced word-processing skills including a working knowledge of spreadsheets (e.g. excel), inter/intranet, email and social media.
  • Proficiency with specific animation software platforms.
  • Ability to illustrate and storyboard.
  • Demonstrated experience in animation best practices with perfect command of at least

two of the official three ECOWAS languages.

  • ability to understand semi-routine instructions and carry them out with limited supervision.
  • Experience drawing and animating.
  • Experience using animation software, such as Adobe Animate, Maya, Cinema 4D, or Blender.
  • Proven ability to draw across different types of artistic styles.
  • Experience implementing different animation styles, including traditional animation, 3D computer animation, 2D vector animation and others.
  • General computer literacy, including experience with common operating systems (Windows, Linux, MacOS) and productivity tools.
  • Comfort presenting and explaining animations, storyboards, and designs to stakeholders.
  • Significant attention to detail and patience to work carefully and efficiently.
  • Broad knowledge of communication activities such as creating animations etc.

  • Fluency in oral and written expressions in one of the ECOWAS official languages of the Community (English, French & Portuguese). Knowledge of an additional one will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to organize routine work tasks, to identify solutions to address conflicting priorities or uncertainty in carrying out new or changing tasks.
  • Ability to develop work goals and identify the steps needed to achieve these goals.
