ECOWAS strongly condemns the deadly attacks perpetrated in Ouagadougou

The Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has learnt with dismay of the armed attacks in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on Friday, 2 March 2017.

Various sources revealed the targeted locations to include the Prime Minister’s office, Defence Headquarters, French Embassy, French Cultural Centre, and UN Offices.

The ECOWAS Commission commends the Burkinabe authorities for the prompt reaction of the specialised units of the Defence and Security Forces in bringing the situation under control.

The Commission strongly condemns any act aimed at destabilising Burkina Faso. It expresses its sincere condolences to the families of victims, as well as reiterates its unflinching solidarity and support for the people and Government of Burkina Faso.
