ECOWAS Ministers of Information to meet in Abidjan on the Regional Radio

Abuja, December 6, 2019. The Ministers of Information and Experts from Member States of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are set to meet on 9th December 2019 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on the ECOWAS Radio.

The Ministers will examine and adopt the report from the Experts meeting which held in Lomé, among others during the meeting. Recommendations from the ministerial meeting will be submitted to the ECOWAS Council of Ministers, and subsequently the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government for approval and adoption during their Summit on the 21st of December 2019.

The ECOWAS Commission officially requested the UN Secretary-General for the “custodianship of the UNMIL Radio” after the UN ended its Mission in Liberia in August 2017. On March 23, 2018, the United Nations Missions in Liberia turned over its broadcast facilities ECOWAS.

The ECOWAS Radio will promote democracy, peace, stability and good governance in the West Africa Region, and will facilitate the regional integration efforts of ECOWAS.
