Abuja, 22 August 2019. The Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has learnt with dismay of the attack on the military detachment in Koutougou, Soum province, on 19 August 2019, which caused a number of casualties in the Defence and Security Forces. It reaffirms its unwavering solidarity and support for the Government and people of Burkina Faso. ECOWAS extends its sincere condolences to the Government, the people of Burkina Faso and especially to the families of the victims, and wishes all those injured a speedy recovery. It reaffirms its strong commitment to combat all forms of aggression, and stands by the Government of Burkina Faso in this fight. |
