Celebration the 49th Anniversary of ECOWAS in Guinea-Bissau

The Office of the ECOWAS Representation in Guinea-Bissau celebrated the 49th anniversary of the creation of the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) through a series of activities organized from 27 to 28 May 2024.

On 27 May 2024, a ceremony to hand over medical supplies and medicines was held at the Mansoa Regional Hospital in the north of the country in collaboration with the ECOWAS Stabilization Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau.

The donation was presented by Ambassador Ngozi UKAEJE, ECOWAS Resident Representative in Guinea Bissau to Mr. Martinho Moreira, Governor of the Region, in the presence of the ECOWAS Ambassadors in Guinea-Bissau, Dr Cristina Pedreira, Director of the National Office of thenal of ECOWAS, force commanders of the ECOWAS Stabilization Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau, as well as some community members.

On May 28, 2024, Ambassador Ngozi UKAEJE, Marciano Silva Barbeiro, the Representative of the Government of Guinea-Bissau, members of the Government, accredited Ambassadors including those of the member countries of ECOWAS, the Command of the Mission of Support to theECOWAS in Guinea-Bissau, along with other guests, attended the raising of the ECOWAS flag at the Government’s headquarters, the “Palacio do Governo”, and attended a gala dinner in the evening, complemented by a performance by local artists.
