ECOWAS Commission organises a workshop to validate its Standard Operating Procedures for Grants

The ECOWAS Commission is organising a four-day validation workshop on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for grants management from June 25 to 28, 2024, in Abuja, Nigeria.

The primary objective of the workshop is to refine the Commission’s institutional processes and procedures concerning grant management to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Specifically, the workshop aims to educate staff on grant awarding and management processes, ensuring alignment with the Grants Manual and Code, improving the clarity of roles and responsibilities, maintaining compliance with regulations and industry best practices, and elevating the overall quality of grant management services.

During his introductory speech, Mr. Seydou BANGOURA, the Director of Administration and General Services, highlighted that this initiative underscores the ECOWAS Commission’s dedication to strengthening its institutional capabilities and enhancing its delivery on regional integration and development goals. He also expressed appreciation to the European Union and Germany for their support towards this workshop.

This workshop organized by the Directorate, Administration and General Services of the ECOWAS Commission brought together staff from different departments and units of the ECOWAS Commission, as well as external experts in grant management for interactive sessions, group discussions and practical exercises to validate SOPs and ensure their long-term effectiveness.
