ROLE OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of the Head of the ECOWAS Regional Radio, the incumbent shall supervise and ensure uninterrupted, professional and high-quality ECOWAS Radio broadcast across the ECOWAS Regions in collaboration with the supervisor.

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Define and update the regional radio infrastructure development strategy.

·       Ensure the proper functioning of the infrastructure and technical equipment of the said radio.

·       Put in place modern tools for the management and operation of these infrastructures and equipment.

·       Inform and train technicians in the use of new technical materials and equipment.

·       Ensure the installation, security and preventive and curative maintenance of infrastructure and technical equipment.

·       Detect and repair breakdowns and malfunctions on the equipment of the regional station.

·       Ensure the updating of the regional radio frequency plan and compliance with national, regional and international regulations in terms of frequency use; etc.

·       Perform any other duty assigned by the supervisor.

 

 

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

·       Bachelor’s degree in Electric/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications/ICT, Media Production, broadcasting, broadcast technology or related field from a recognized University.

·       Five (5) years’ experience in broadcast systems operation and maintenance.

·       Experience in electronic engineering and communications equipment.

·       Knowledge and experience working with established rules and standards of operation set up by relevant regulatory authorities.

·       Knowledge of satellite communication equipment, FM networks, computer operating systems, applications and computer networks.

·       Proficiency in information communication technologies (ICT).

·       Fluency in oral and written expressions in one of the ECOWAS official languages of the Community (English, French & Portuguese). Knowledge of an additional one will be an added advantage.

·        Identify, organize, and monitor tasks throughout to facilitate execution.

·       Ability to contribute and/or lead on projects as per accepted project management standards and techniques, to co-ordinate contributions by others to set and meet deadlines.

·       Ability to organize work, set priorities, and work within timelines, giving attention to details, stakeholders, indicators, and risks.

·       Ability to identify, collect and assess indicators to monitor performance and to take proactive remedial action as required.
