Condolence Message From The President Of The ECOWAS Commission Following The Suicide Attack In A Mosque In Nigeria

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), has learned with dismay and indignation of the suicide attack perpetrated on the 21st November 2017, by a teenager, at a mosque in the town of Mubi, Adamawa Nigeria State. According to different sources, the initial death toll is said to be at least fifty (50) people with dozens injured. The ECOWAS Commission strongly condemns this terrorist attack and expresses its support as well as its solidarity to Nigeria and to the Joint Multinational Task Force, which has spared no effort to rid the Lake Chad basin of terrorist groups. The Commission reaffirms its unwavering commitment to contribute towards the effective implementation of the ECOWAS counterterrorism strategy. The President of the ECOWAS Commission, under these sad circumstances, presents his most sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wishes the injured a very swift recovery. The President equally expresses his strong compassion, as well as that of the West African community, to the President and people of the Federal Republic Nigeria. Abuja, 21st November 2017 |
